Zip Line Canopy And Canyoning In Costa Rica
Zip Line Tree Top Canopy Tours
Soaring Over The Tops in Costa Rica
By Katty Beard

One of the many exciting outdoor adventures you can experience in Costa Rica is the famous Tree Top Canopy Tour. This unique experience allows you to truly see nature while enjoying an exhilarating ride on zip lines through the trees. This one of a kind experience can also be combined with horseback riding to make it even more unforgettable.

When you arrive for your exciting tropical adventure, you will be instructed on the safe way to enjoy the experience. You will get fitted for a harness, gloves and will get to practice on a zip line close to the ground. Once comfortable your guide will take you to your first platform. The several zip lines are hung between platforms from trees or other such sturdy structures and you will zip along between these two platforms one at a time.  Once you arrive at your first platform intimidation my start to creep in along with some fear. A guide will go first in order to show you how its done. Once it’s your turn you will get hooked up by your harness on the line and away you go! Feel the adrenaline coarse through your body as you quickly zip along the line and land safely at the next platform where one of your trained guides waits to help you get down.

The rush of the wind is fantastic and once comfortable you will look around and admire the marvel that is Costa Rica's dense tropical forests. As you zip your way deeper and deeper into the forest, you will begin to notice the animal life that surrounds you. Toucans, howler monkeys, sloths, wild turkeys and other such animals that are at eye level. The beautiful forest will astound you with the unique sounds and sites throughout.

During your adventure, you may encounter hanging bridges, and some ladders that take you higher into the trees, for this reason we don't recommend this tour for expectant mothers, small children or individuals that are extremely overweigh and in poor physical condition.

Once you are finished with your adventure, you will be rewarded with wonderful refreshments and a feeling that Costa Rica was just the adventure you were looking for.

Canyoning (also known as canyoneering) is traveling in canyons using a variety of techniques that may include walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling, and/or swimming. Either way, get ready to be soaked to the skin and have a barrel of fun. Bring a change of dry clothes. There are showers and changing rooms at base camp.

Rappel down some of the most dramatic waterfalls in Costa Rica and into a canyon that reminds us of something out of the movie Lord of the Rings! See tropical birds, monkeys and thousands of different kinds of plants and flowers.
This is the canyoning itinerary:
* 4X4 drive into the Costa Rica rainforest
* Rappel down cascading waterfalls
* Trek through a magical canyon
* See monkeys, sloth's, parrots, and more...
* Lunch served at the base camp

We trek through the forest on magical trails that lead to some of the most spectacular waterfalls in Costa Rica, a place very few people get to experience. Along the way we will have the chance to discover the secrets that lie hidden deep within the canyon. From the first waterfall we will rappel down from the top into the beautiful and pristine canyon below.

The adventure includes four rappels, three of which are along waterfalls, and one dry rock face. Then just a short trek out of the canyon, jump in the vehicles and head back to the base camp. Upon arrival at base camp you will be served a delicious typical lunch and your canyoning adventure will be shown on the TV while you eat.

How do you describe FUN?  How safe is canyoning?  Any outdoor sport is inherently riskier than, say, watching television (Physically riskier, that is. We would argue that television presents a bigger risk to your brain.).  If you head out into an unknown canyon with just a rope, a buddy, and a lot of optimism, you're definitely in high-risk territory. Our canyoning is done with guides, who are intimately familiar with every pool, slide, and waterfall in the canyons we use. We use only the best gear used in canyoneering and rock climbing. All our guides have been professionally trained in Wilderness First Aid and CPR. Daily safety inspections are conducted on all equipment and systems. At Bill Beard’s we are dedicated to providing our clients with the ultimate outdoor adventure.

The groups are small, the guides are experienced and the trips are always memorable. This tour is for anyone in moderate physical condition. Kid friendly, No experience necessary.

Includes: Transportation, lunch, snacks in the canyon, 5 rappels - we will show you how! (4 waterfalls + 1 dry wall), Expert Guides and all Safety gear. We accept a maximum of 2 children under 100 pounds (46 kilos) per tour accompanied by an extra guide and there is an additional charge. You can enjoy this adventure rain or shine (you'll get wet anyway but the water is warm :-) -bring a change of clothes. Space is limited to 12 people per tour and we operate only 2 tours a day): For information and reservations Email CostaRica@diveres.com or phone 877 853-0538
