Kids Learn To Dive In Costa Rica - Bill Beard Costa Rica

Scuba divers in Costa RicaDon’t let our rag-tag looks deceive you. We are all certified divers and that now includes two eleven year olds and three thirteen year olds that came to Costa Rica to finish up the pool & open water portion of their PADI Scuba Diving certification after completing the PADI on-line course and passing the written exam back home. The adults here are Mothers, Fathers, Uncles, grandparents, CEO of Bill Beard’s, Vanessa Willing and our superior instructor Nere Aguero who is now a PADI Course Director and we are extremely proud of our new divers.

After completing the online portion of the Padi Open Water Scuba Diving course you travel to Costa Rica to meet your instructor. Bill Beard’s makes all the arrangements and reservations for you.

Learning to scuba dive requires both knowledge development – including facts, principles and concepts – and dive skills including techniques and methods. PADI Open Water Diver Online uses videos, audio, graphics and reading to help you learn, plus short quizzes that let you gauge your progress, and then offers a review of anything you happen to miss. You develop dive skills during actual dives with a PADI Instructor at your resort in Costa Rica.

Getting certified to scuba dive in Costa RicaYour briefings are done in open air, next to the pool within a short walk to the beach on the gorgeous Pacific Ocean.

A scuba diving certification is a lifetime achievement and you never have to do it again. Maybe a refresher if you went a couple of years without diving, but why would you want to do that? Diving is a sport that the entire family over 10 years of age can enjoy together.

One of the most important things you learn as a diver is the buddy system. Your dependence on your buddy makes you aware that they also depend on you – to conduct a proper buddy check, to stay close, keep an eye out for signs that things aren’t going smoothly and to communicate with them clearly when needed. Divers understand the importance of being a reliable buddy under the water which translates to them being a reliable friend or family member on land.

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases: Knowledge Development ( online, independent study or in a classroom) to understand basic principles of scuba diving. Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills. Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore!

You will spend the first day in the class and pool. The second and third day will be in the ocean making four underwater dives and practicing the skills it takes to become a safe and proficient scuba diver. It’s not all work though as we allow lots of time for sightseeing and swimming around enjoying the profuse marine life that inhabit our waters in Costa Rica
