This four-day add on trip takes guests from waterfalls to volcanos, cloud forests and coffee plantations, so you can explore the beauty and culture of the Costa Rica. Towering a full 1,600 meters above the lush Costa Rican jungle, the Arenal Volcano remains one of the country’s best-loved attractions and the area is now at the very heart of the local adventure tourism scene! Lake crossing boat trip takes you on your way to the Quaker community and cloud forest of Monteverde, where you will take explore the cloud forest from above the canopy.
The cloud forest at Monteverde is a great place to explore this fascinating ecosystem with a staggering array of wildlife and mysterious, misty landscape, this is one experience not to miss! This Spotlight on Costa Rica extension begins at the Arenal Volcano and ends at the dock in Puntarenas where you will meet the liveaboard vessel taking you to your liveaboard adventure!

PRE - Itinerary
Day 1 La Fortuna / Arenal Volcano
Arrive into Juan Santa Maria International Airport (SJO). You will be met by one of our representatives outside customs and immigration for your private transportation from San José airport to the iconic Arenal Volcano. La Fortuna is the home of the 5,437-foot-high volcanic peak that is one of Costa Rica’s most famed landmarks—and until 2010, the country’s most active volcano.

Day 2 La Fortuna / Arenal Volcano
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. You have the morning free to explore the area. Book a white water rafting adventure, visit a coffee plantation or take a hike to the base of the La Fortuna Waterfall. In the afternoon you will head to the base of the Arenal Volcano for a guided walk with a naturalist guide who will lead you along the trails where you’ll get the best views of the volcano, pointing out local flora and fauna along the way and sharing the history of Arenal.
After your walk soothe your muscles with a dip in the mineral-rich waters of Tabacón’s hot springs. End the day with dinner at the Resorts Ave Del Paraiso restaurant.

Day 3 La Fortuna / Arenal – Monteverde Cloud Forest
After breakfast you will leave the tropical rainforest and head to the refreshing climate and clear air of Monteverde. A shuttle van will pick you up and take you to Lake Arenal, where you will board a boat and travel with an amazing view of Arenal Volcano as you head toward the Monteverde Cloud Forest. This area was founded by Quakers wanting a peaceful existence and remained in Monteverde producing cheese and ice cream that is now sold throughout Costa Rica. After check in, you’ll experience the cloud forest on your choice of adventure. Choose between an adventurous canopy zip line tour or a cloud forest walk over the hanging bridges. Your visit will also include a walk through the one of the largest butterfly gardens in Costa Rica and a relaxing stroll through the sloth sanctuary that showcases one of Costa Rica´s most iconic animals in a carefully designed exhibit that replicates their natural habitat and that is home to 20 sleepy, slow-moving, tree-dwelling individuals
