Guanabana (aka Soursop) is a tropical fruit found throughout Costa Rica and makes a delicious drink. Practice your Spanish by asking for “refresco Gunanabana” and add more to your honeymoon memories.
Here is a wonderful Honeymoon Guide to Costa Rica: Beaches, Rain Forest, Cloud Forests, Volcanoes, Hot Springs and Adventure
Costa Rica is arguable the best country in Latin America for a memorable, tropical honeymoon: misty jungles, incredible wildlife, active volcanoes, adventure and glorious deserted beaches.
Phenomenal Costa Rican Sunsets
Costa Rica as a honeymoon destination is so enticing because you are not locked into just one area. So many destinations offer you an option of beach, mountains, culture, adventure or beautiful resorts, but Costa Rica offers you all of these in one honeymoon. That’s where Bill Beard’s team of honeymoon and wedding planners comes in. We can bundle a custom package for you that you have always dreamed about and even add a few thing you probably have never thought about. The beauty is that we don’t charge you anything for our service. Talk to us, we will set you up an itinerary at no charge and no obligation.
Hot Springs & Mud Baths
Costa Rica’s is a literal hotbed of relaxing mud baths, mineral pools, and thermal hot springs. The hot springs are usually found within a few miles of an active volcano. Arenal, Rincon de la Vieja and the Miravalles Volcano are the country’s most popular destinations for thermal soaks, boasting highly rated hot springs, mud baths and spa facilities. Natural hot springs, or warm thermal pools located adjacent to cool-water rivers are an option for adventurous travelers, hikers and honeymoon couples. Resorts throughout Costa Rica have harnessed the restorative powers of volcanic hot springs, rerouting waters into luxurious facilities.
If you spend time in San Jose, Old San José has its sights, from Museo de Jade (Plaza de la Democracía) and Museo del Oro (beneath Plaza de la Cultura), both with unrivalled but unsung pre-Colombian treasures, to the warren of the Mercado Central, and the pay-to-view grandeur of the Teatro Nacional. Start at the city’s western edge with a visit to Museo de Arte Costarricense in the old air traffic control building of what used to be the airport, then head down Paseo Colon to the National Theatre.
A quarter of Costa Rica is protected parks and reserve, but the crown jewel is Corcovado national park, 164 square miles of rainforest in the Osa peninsula, fringed by empty Pacific beach. Remote and largely impenetrable, it’s home to five species of cat (jaguar, puma, ocelot, margay and jaguarundi) plus tapir, sloth, monkeys, boas (there are lots of snakes: wear boots) and almost 400 bird species. Here’s your best chance of spotting Costa Rican wildlife – and the waters are rich with dolphins and, seasonally, pods of whales.
Monteverde is the classic cloud forest choice, and it’s perfect for couples, with sky tram, sky walk and, canopy zip lines. Straddling the Continental Divide at 1440 meters(4662 ft), the Santa Elena and Monteverde Cloud Forest, Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve Guided Tour offers one of the most interesting places to visit in Costa Rica.
Costa Rica Beaches
Costa Rica has two coasts totaling 1250 miles and more than 300 beaches, some the domain of turtles. But there are two areas that have everything, from surfer bars to top-end retreats, party beaches to silent jungle. The first is Manuel Antonio on the Central Pacific, and adjacent to Manuel Antonio National Park and the second is Tamarindo on the Northwest Pacific coast that is famous for surfing, scuba diving, sailing and hanging out. You may even choose to learn to surf or scuba dive while on your honeymoon.
Arenal, the essential volcano
Volcán Poás is easier to visit (it’s virtually a drive-in) and Volcán Rincón de la Vieja is wilder, but Arenal is unmissable. Only one thing beats the thrill of seeing Arenal erupt, and that’s seeing it erupt while you’re sitting in a hot spring. The hot spring industry sprang up as a way of entertaining frustrated visitors who arrived to find the perfect cone shrouded in cloud.
